A Grade kicked off the season with a fantastic win, showcasing excellent teamwork and skill throughout.
New additions Ellie Lothian, Stacey Parks, and Kristie James brought fresh energy and slotted in nicely to the side.
The girls worked together smoothly, combining well to control the flow of the game.
With many hands to balls in defence and attackers working overtime, the Lions had plenty of scoring opportunities.
Steph and the girls were very happy with the win and sets a positive tone for the season ahead.
Awards: $100 MFNC - Ellie Lothian, $100 MFNC - Grace Thomson and $50 MFNC - Kristy James.
B Grade

Starting the season with Cara’s 400th and Tayla’s 150th gave the B Grade all a little more fire in the belly to bring home a win.
Both milestone players had an impact on the game from the first whistle and led the team to a great win.
Anna Zanin was a headache for the opposition with her defensive pressure through the middle all game long with Alex out at WD.
Lots of rolling subs proved a strong advantage for the Lionesses and the fresh legs were put to good use.
An advantage that kept Mulwala out in front all day. Thanks to Iris and Nat Ferg for stepping in to help out.
Awards: Miss Dolly - Cara Wood, Club award - Anna Zanin and One Zach - Alex Ridley.
C Grade
Mulwala 48 def Numurkah 18.
Stella effort for C Grade’s first game, with the use of the rolling subs by gun defenders Steph, lily and Leah in the 1st had the girls rattle their opponents.
Playing coach Nat Ferguson was solid in the mid court along with her trio Mel, Mon and Addye who dominated all day.
The 4th saw the goalies use the rolling subs also and all Jades, Stassy’s plus Pipers moves and shots were unstoppable.
An awesome first game for the C Grade getting the win by 30 and it shows great things are on the horizon.
Awards: Lily Burns, Steph Dempster and Jade Robinson.
C Res
Mulwala 46 def Numurkah 17.
What a great start for the new team after shaking off some first-game jitters.
After a promise from Coach Cathie that C Res be doing burpees if they didn’t tighten up passes – the girls got focussed.
Daisy was picking off intercepts and chasing up loose balls all over the court and Annabelle’s relentless defensive pressure was a joy to watch.
Myley and Abbi were a strong combo in goals showing maturity and composure beyond their years.
‘Toota the Shooter McGavin’ even had a crack at goals and never disappoints.
Darcee’s communication was on point and it’s great to see her leadership skills shine. The team’s versatility and positive attitudes all over the court was amazing to see.
Let’s continue to work hard at training and look forward to great season!

Great start to the season for the girls. They all played their role and played well as a team.
Lots of turnovers allowed the girls to score. A strong win, well done girls.

Under 15s
Mulwala 37 def Numurkah 19.
The girls pulled up nervous but still ready to slay. Charli, Eva and Pheonix came in with levels unmatched, moving like they mean business and flexing their goal shooter energy.
The centre court crew, Mim, Bonnie, Chloe and Bell flexed those cardio skills like they’d had 3 red bulls and a peppermint crisp.
They created space like Taylor Swift dropping surprise albums, and played like they had a GPS tracker on the ball.
No crumbs left.
Ruby and Summer in defence, absolutely locked in. The ring was VIP only, with the queens putting on a no cap defence, intercepting, blocking and swapping like the ultimate tik tok battle with less lip syncing.
Whole team? Rizzed up, flexing, slaying and LIT.
That was a great start to the under 15’s year.
Awards: Paradise Palms – Ruby, Charcoal chicken - Jemima Bruce and Papalias - Chloe Smith.
Under 13s
Mulwala 33 def Numurkah 3.
The under 13s faced some challenges as five girls were away, leaving a smaller squad. Despite this, the team showed great resilience and skill throughout the game.
Thanks to Addison and Poppy for stepping in. Sienna demonstrated impressive defensive skills, consistently intercepting passes and making key plays to stop the opposing team from scoring.
Meanwhile, Remi was on fire in attack, showcasing her ability to position herself perfectly in the shooting circle and converting several shots into goals.
Addison also played a crucial role, skilfully passing the ball into the shooting ring, allowing the shooters to take advantage of scoring opportunities.
Amazing effort by all 7 girls who took the court.
You all put into play the setups and plays that you have been learning at training.
Awards: Charlees Charcoal Chicken - Remi Riches, Thursday night club dinner - Sienna Ridley and House made - Addison Kirchen.

What a way to start round 1! An early start for lots of young Lionesses with two games being played.
Thank you to all of the families who were able to make it down to the courts with such little notice.
U11s had a great game with some great intercepts in defence and impressive goals being shot.
Well done to all of the first year players who stepped out on the court and to the top age players who led by example and played so well.
A great start to the year. Well done all.
