Despite both local sides suffering losses, it was Moama which was the unlucky side booted from the last four, stuck behind Shepparton Youth Club United on quotient.
The Mowers had the unenviable task of taking on undefeated Mooroopna in the last round, knowing they needed to win to have any hope of a place in the last four.
However, as they have been against all opposition this season, the Cats were far too strong, blasting their way to a nine-wicket win and ending Moama’s season.
Moama elected to bat first at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve but found the going slow throughout the innings.
The quality of the Cats' attack made runs difficult to come by, and when the Mowers did manage to accumulate a modest total, Mooroopna was quick to halt the momentum with wickets.
Seven Moama batters logged double-digits in the balls-faced column, but none were able to replicate the feat in the run tally, Jinaya Nurse top-scoring with just nine, and the only boundary of the innings.
Moama finished its 20 overs eight down and with just 52 runs to show for its efforts
The Cats have plenty of bowling threats, Gemma Boyd (2-2), Mia Earl (2-6) and Charlie Nicholson (2-7) chief among them on this occasion.
In stark contrast to the first innings, Mooroopna wasted no time in the chasing down the total.
Ebony Sleeth (13) was the only batter dismissed, getting off to a quick start with Lauren Hall (8 not-out) before Gemma Boyd (25 not-out from 11) put the game on ice within five overs.
Mia Arthurson (1-13) made the sole breakthrough for Moama.
With both SYCU and Echuca losing elsewhere, Moama would have advanced with a win but was instead left in an unfavourable tie for fourth.
Echuca vs Nagambie
Echuca has some work to do this week after suffering a comfortable 74-run defeat in what turned out to be a semi-final preview.
Nagambie batted first at Victoria Park and set about building a strong total.
Although 1-14 in the early going, the Lakers strung together a series of effective partnerships, the next three wickets costing about 40 runs each.
Breanna Davison showed plenty of intent, making 41 from 24 deliveries before suffering an untimely run-out, while Kait Carracher was a useful supporting piece with 29 retired not-out.
Nagambie posted a strong 4-134 from its 20 overs, no easy task for the host to chase down.
Marli Hollamby (1-21) and Grace Riddell (1-32) grabbed the wickets for Echuca, the other two coming via run out.
The Echuca chase ran into early trouble as both openers departed cheaply, leaving their side 2-6.
The trio of Chloe Moyle (9), Jessica Cox (17) and Kate Carlile (10) were able to steady things somewhat, but another batting collapse, the loss of 3-4, put the game almost beyond reach.
The tail couldn’t contribute much to the effort, and Echuca was bowled out within 12 overs, with only 60 runs to its name.
Sarah Villinger took an efficient 3-4 to lead Nagambie, while Kelsey Abbott added 2-9.
The defending champion, after finishing third, will need to rebound quickly through the week as it faces up to the Lakers again on Sunday, this time at Nagambie Recreation Reserve.
Mooroopna and SYCU will battle in the other semi-final.
