A 126-run win against Stanhope, at Kyabram P-12 College, put an exclamation mark on a season that has seen them string together nine straight wins, only interrupted by a heat affected round eight which saw that match abandoned.
Friday night’s 190-run 20-over total was the fourth time this season the team had passed the 150-run mark.
They were sent into bat by Stanhope and it was the “usual suspects” that led the charge.
In the space of three-balls in the 13th over Archie Andison scored 14 runs and went on to retire with 29 runs from 15 balls to his credit.
Earlier Eli Coombs had scored 21 from 15 and Levi Cleveland 17 from his 15-ball stay. Oscar Andison (15), Zayden Scapin (12), Kade Bramley (11) and Ryder Morris (13 not out) all made double figure contributions.
Chase Baumann was the pick of the Stanhope bowlers with 2-18, while Harry Fisher and Finn Archard took one wicket apiece.
Morris and Bramley then led the Fire Brigade bowling assault, both taking two wickets as seven of the eight bowlers used took at least one wicket.
Lennnon Hall stood tall for Stanhope, retiring with 14 runs from his 17 balls (including two boundaries).
– Tex Townsend and Bennett Barnes were the pick of the Tongala under-11 batters as they set Rochester 119 runs for victory at Rochester Secondary College.
Townsend struck three boundaries and a six in his 10-ball 21-run total, while Barnes hit three boundaries in his nine-ball 15 and Jacob Morgan made 12.
In reply Rochester scored 144 from its 20 overs, Townsend taking one wicket with the ball and supported by Tait Ohlsen and Jett Tucker.
– Tongala’s under-13 season ended with a 24-run defeat at the hand of Leitchville Gunbower last week at Brose Reserve.
Leitchville Gunbower was sent into bat and managed 6-100 from its 20 overs. Two run outs from Tongala star Kevin Maurizi was a highlight of the innings, while Oliver Croft and Thomas West were among four bowlers to take one wicket.
Lucas Pyke led the Tongala run chase with 17 runs from 21-balls, while Kevin Maurizi (retired 10) and Kane Pyke also did their bit in the run chase.
Tongala finished with 9-76, with Leitchville Gunbower completing four run outs of its own.
– Kyabram Fire Brigade’s under-15 season ends tonight when it faces Moama on day two of the grand final at Brose Reserve in Tongala.
Fire Brigade won its way into the final by restricting Echuca to 8-137 from 40 overs, having set them a tally of 157 on day one of the match.
That innings featured Jake Hubble, Isaac Grealy and Archie Sheppard all contributing strongly with the bat, with Sheppard doing the same with the ball.
He took 2-16 from four overs, but played second fiddle to the five-over stint of Jonty Sefton. Sefton finished with 2-3 as Echuca lost its last seven wickets for 26 runs.
– Kyabam Redbacks scored its second 200-run total of the season in the final round of the Cricket Shepparton under-12 B-grade season at Vibert Reserve on Friday.
The 224-run 20-over score came on the back of a decision to bat against Karramomus Kerr and for the loss of just four wickets.
Oliver Dervish topped the scorecard with 31 not out from 17 balls (including five boundaries), while Archer Nunn (30 not out from 18) and Kyle Pethebridge (also 30 retired, with three boundaries) were just as dominant.
Last week’s hero, Tyler Nicholson, scored 24 retired from 17 balls, Archie Williams 16 retired and Rhys McKiernan 19 not out (from 17 balls, with two boundaries and a six).
Karramomus Kerr was 83 at the end of its 20 overs, Nicholson, Williams and Pethybridge all claiming two wickets.
