She finished 16th in the 50m backstroke and 17th in the 100m backstroke which was an excellent effort with 116 girls in 50m and 59 in 100m.
Millie was pleased with her eight performances overall competing against the best for her age in Australia.
Her performances included two personal bests, in the 50m backstroke, and 50m butterfly where she finished 23rd .
“I was happier this year because I qualified for more events and made it to two finals,” she said.
Millie competed in the 100m backstroke for a 19th placing, 200m backstroke (46th placing), 50m butterfly (23rd), 100m freestyle (54th) and 50m freestyle (43rd).
Millie Dodd dives off in the 100m freestyle.
With her team-mates, Millie finished 12th in the 4 x 50m medley club relay 12 and 20th in the 4 x 50m freestyle club relay.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club head coach Lyndon Hart, who coaches Millie when she is in Yarrawonga, said he was very impressed with Millie’s results.
“Millie would be competing against 50 to 100 girls in most events – 116 in the 50m backstroke – and they are the best age swimmers in Australia,” he said.
“The number of events and times she did was very impressive. Obviously she’s doing some hard training and the results are showing and improving.”
The former Yarrawonga College P-12 student and current Methodist Ladies College Kew student trains seven times a week at the college pool and has three gym sessions a week. And you guessed it, she loves her sport.
