Tongala has started with three wins to start the season, including big wins over Echuca United (149 points) and 2019 grand final opponent Nathalia (110 points).
Barooga is the only side to come close to Tongala, with the Blues snatching a 14-point win.
A genuine test awaits the Blues, however, whose winning streak now sits at 16 games.
In the face of the unbeaten Blues, Congupna (seventh) will be no slouches despite registering just one win in 2022.
The Road opened its season with a 35-point win over Numurkah before pushing flag contenders Cobram in round two.
Congupna led the Tigers by four points at three-quarter time before letting it slip, conceding seven goals to one in the final term.
Congupna then pushed another contender in Mulwala before fading away again, a theme plaguing the Road in its past two encounters.
“It’s a very big danger game,” Souter said.
“If you look at their results so far, they beat Numurkah who we expect to go close to playing finals.
“They played Cobram and got within four goals, then they pushed Mulwala. If we don’t play our best footy we’ll get rolled.”
Tongala is coming off a mammoth 110-point win over Nathalia, but it came at a cost.
Star midfielder Brock McLean (hamstring) comes in this week under an injury cloud, with his inclusion in this Saturday’s side no certainty.
However, the Blues could welcome back O’Dwyer medallist Coby McCarthy.
“Brock hasn’t pulled up too bad, the hamstring is not as bad as we thought it could have been,“ Souter said.
“We’re not 100 per cent he’ll play, he’ll probably miss this weekend I’d say.
“Hopefully we get Coby (McCarthy) back in.
“We’re not sure until training how everyone gets through.”
The top five clubs — Moama, Deniliquin, Cobram, Tongala, and Mulwala — remain undefeated heading into round four.
Tongala sits fourth.
