Wilson, 19, was the first Australian woman to compete in street skateboarding at an Olympic Games as the discipline made its debut in Tokyo.
The goofy-footed Victorian Institute of Sport star began her heat well on the world stage, finishing her two runs with a combined total of 4.24 — a very competitive effort.
It put Wilson in with a chance to progress to the final ahead of her five-trick attempts, but with the first four garnering no score the teenager was forced to bank a score in the last and finish with a total of 5.34.
It left Wilson on the bubble in eighth spot for qualification after her heat — which was the second of four — but by the time all competitors had taken to the arena she was pushed down to 16th.
Wilson has had a career-best ranking of sixth in the world, and came into the Tokyo Games with a gold medal in the 2020 Oceania Continentals — held in Melbourne — and is a five-time Australian Skateboard League national champion.
She started skateboarding at the age of eight after her brother convinced her to buy a board, while she qualified for her first X-Games when she was 15 — making her the youngest woman in history to do so in the street division.

Wilson was also named Mansfield Shire Sports Person of the Year in 2018 and Mansfield Young Citizen of the Year in 2019.
