The Magpies were quietly confident of causing an upset at the weekend, having been within five goals of the Rams last time they played.
But it wasn’t to be, as the Pies were put to the sword by a clinical Rams, going down 39 to 55.

Despite the result, Moama coach Jodie Lake was happy with the way her side went about the contest against a side highly-fancied to repeat premiership success this season.
“I was really proud of the girls, they actually played a ripper game against a quality side,” she said.
“We actually scored evenly in the second half, so I was pleased we could close the gap.”
There were plenty of positives that Lake could pick out, with the side set to go to work in the bye before making the run in to finals.

“Game-changer young gun Hannah Richards came on in goal shooter for her debut A-grade appearance, and she more than proved she is one to watch in the near future,” Lake said.
“Best-on-court went to Alex Daly who created countless turnovers in wing defence, her intercept game was her best so far.”
Liv Taverna also scooped an award as one of the more influential Moama players on court.
Around the courts, Congupna was too strong on the road against Cobram and defeated the Tigers by 26 goals.
Rumbalara had a convincing win over Finley and cruised to a 17-goal win, while Echuca United thrashed Tocumwal 73-30.
Lastly, Numurkah pulled off an incredible 46-45 triumph over Nathalia on Sunday afternoon.
