At just 12 years of age this is Luca’s first individual three frame event victory, whilst also being half of the current club doubles champion pair in company with his uncle Adrian.
Luca had a huge final night after defeating Craig Jordan in a semi-final prior to lining up against Kevin.
Luca’s continuing improvement and obvious potential is great to watch, especially in his long potting, which he approaches with a youthful exuberance and confidence that older members would love to have.
Congratulations to you Luca on a very well-played event and to Kevin Young on making the final in a big field of entrants.
The second youngest member is Luca’ sister Mia Macheda and at age 14 she is also showing all the signs of having a huge future in the sport.
Mia added to her outstanding list of achievements in the recent Asia Pacific Women’s Snooker Championship, which was held at the Albury Commercial Club, by finishing 6th overall.
This result in an open age event included breaks of 24 and 26 and demonstrates the level Mia has reached with apparently unlimited potential improvement still in the tank. Congratulations Mia, the club look forward to watching you and Luca perform your snooker magic over the coming years.
The Autumn Triples competition has kicked off and will be contested over April and May in between regular Club Challenge and Digger’s Tribute rounds.
Too early to frame a betting market yet so we will be watching early rounds to determine favourites for this annual event.
Wednesday evening social events continue to be very well supported and great fun for all entrants.
Chris Page made a triumphant return on March 26 when he took out “Mr Wednesday night” in Michael Barclay to claim the ClubMulwala voucher whilst Dan Young put together a very impressive set of matches to claim victory over Martin Dermietzel on April 2.
As can be seen on the ClubMulwala website, its members newsletter and the Club Mulwala Snooker Club Facebook page, we welcome new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try. ClubMulwala sponsors the snooker club very generously so value for money ratio for players is very high indeed.
There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try the facilities out.
The snooker club have 2 excellently maintained full size tables, which have recently been re-surfaced and a new state of the art lighting system.
The snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use, and the club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.
There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
Please contact the club on either 0497 062443 or 0418 361779 or visit on a Wednesday evening before 7PM if you would like to give snooker a try.
