Benefitting from an influx of A-graders while the top-tier Lions have the bye, BLU put together 7-197 against Rushworth, Josh Cairns saluting a half-century with a top score of 57.
Noah Turner made an impact in the bowling innings, taking 3-32 as Rushworth was bowled out for only 81 in reply.
The Lions are two games back from fourth with three to play and will need results to go their way down the stretch.
Echuca continues to be the runaway leader, defeating Moama by 26 runs.
Batting first, the leader was in trouble at 6-78, but Harry Kennedy-Ripon (28) and William Kerr (23 not out) got their side out of trouble, allowing it to post 8-138.
Moama started the chase well with contributions at the top from Billy Gallagher (14) and Matthew Watt (38), but the damaging spells of Nick Dolan (3-15) and Jack Evans (3-12) proved decisive as it was bowled out for 112.
Kyabram Fire Brigade continued to pile the pain on Elmore, winning by 53 runs.
Batting first, Oscar Carver was the standout in the Flames’ 9-148, making 44, while Conor Beckmans (3-26) bowled well for the Redbacks.
Luke Price (33) was the only Elmore batter to get going, but his side was dismissed for just 95.
Oliver Barnett (3-25), Riley Carver (2-25) and Oscar Carver (2-19) all had strong stints with the ball.
Stanhope rapidly ran down Colbinabbin to win by seven wickets.
Colbinabbin’s innings rested heavily on Tyler McNamara, whose 50 was the only score of note in an all-out 105 performance.
Shannon Aynsley did plenty of damage for Stanhope, taking 4-20.
Stanhope reeled off the runs in just 19.2 overs, Hamish Stewart (47 not out) and Jonathan Pearson (49) doing most of the work.
Bill Williams Murray B-Grade Shield
Cooma continued to roll, taking down Leitchville-Gunbower by seven wickets.
A late effort from Zac Hegarty (34 not out) and Jimmy Gelletly (32 not out) built on the earlier 33 from Scott Lucas to help L-G post 6-149.
Ethan Palma-Ludeman took 3-20 to lead Cooma.
In response, Cooper Fawcett smashed it to all corners in an unbeaten 80 from 54 balls, well-supported by Russell Napier (31) as Cooma chased down the runs in 28 overs.
Echuca South found Moama’s 209 unreachable, falling 46 short of the target.
Brad Mallick made 75 for Moama to lead the way with the bat, while Noah Densely was on form for South, taking 4-32.
In reply, Dallas Price (43) had the best innings for the Swans, while Jamie Horkings grabbed 4-22.
Girgarre got by Rochester’s 122 with one wicket to spare.
Matthew Harrington made a solid 45 for Rochester, well-supported by Alice Caldow’s 37 not out.
In the Kangaroos’ chase, Steven Phillips distinguished himself, making 61 from 45 deliveries.
Caldow (3-15) and Judd Cuttriss (3-24) put in a good effort with the ball, but Rochy was a wicket short of victory.
A team performance allowed Tongala to topple Nondies-Cohuna by five wickets.
Broden Wishart’s unbeaten 50 put his side in a solid position after the first innings with 146 on the board.
In reply, the Tonny top three of Kade Northausen, Travis Johnstone and Ryan Smith each made 30 or more to set a platform for the successful chase.
Gus Underwood C-Grade Shield
Rochester got by Girgarre by six wickets, Shane Broucek helping restrict the Kangaroos to 104.
Leigh Hartshorne (54 not out) made the chase look easy, getting Rochy there in less than 15 overs.
In a low-scoring affair, Elmore sneaked by BLU by 11 runs.
Having only set a target of 74, Matt Gilmour’s (5-8) five-wicket haul was key in bowling out BLU for only 63.
Kyabram Fire Brigade logged a dominant performance against Cooma, cruising to victory by six wickets.
Four bowlers took two wickets each in a balanced Flames attack that removed Cooma for 73, while Jedd Turpin (25) was the high scorer in the near 25-over chase.
Stanhope racked up a big score, posting 229 against Echuca South, thanks to the efforts of Wade Foley (50) and Brodie Mulcahy (41).
In the Swans’ innings, Ryan Spokes proved lethal, taking 4-18 as Stanhope cleaned up South for only 106.
Peter Raglus D-grade Shield
Rushworth (2-125) chased down Moama (5-123) in quick fashion to claim victory, needing just under 26 overs to get the job done.
Moama’s openers Iain McCleary (33) and Sam McCleary (42) managed to set a nice platform while the rest of the side couldn’t quite follow.
Meanwhile, a Peter Raglus 50 all but assured victory for the travelling Tigers, even with Sujan Dahal taking 5-8 for Moama.
Tongala (5-193) has managed to maintain its position in second place after an emphatic victory over Ky Fire Brigade (86).
Fifties to Andrew Reid (50) and Glenn Chantler (53) got the Blues to a strong first innings score, while Seth Chantler (5-23) decimated the Flames in the second innings.
Stanhope (9-176) has remained on level pegging with Tongala after a thrilling win over Echuca (6-174).
The men in green batted first, with Tomothy Moodie (50) and Chris Hinks (34) top scoring.
But it was the Lions’ all-round batting efforts led by Jayke Fisher (50) and Brendan Baumann (42 not out) that got Stanhope home.
