Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club headed to Corowa last weekend with a team of 43 competitors for the annual Ovens and Murray Relay Championships.

A highlight of the racing calendar, saw teams compete in relay events from the junior swimmers through to the experienced competitors.

Six clubs from across the Ovens and Murray region including from Albury, Wodonga, Corowa and Yarrawonga Mulwala competed across the day which began with the traditional event of the March Past, prior to a day of racing.
Clubs are scored out of 10 on criteria of Marching Ability, Uniform, Participation and Sun Smart Awareness.
March Past Winners Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club 29th year in a row. 24/25 Club Captains Darcy Cox and Emily Buerckner receiving the trophy on behalf of the club.
Yarrawonga Mulwala performed with outstanding quality, taking home the trophy for a record 29th time in a row.
Racing across the day saw teams of 4 race for medals in their age group events, with several teams take to the podium with place finishes.

A special event took place halfway through the program with the Sunshine Swim Relay event.
Proudly organised by the Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club and supported by the Ovens and Murray District Swimming Association, the relay saw 64 competitors mixed into teams from different clubs, males and females, aged from 6 to 74 years, showcasing great swimming, participation and teamwork while raising funds and awareness for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust (AWRCC).

Concluding a month long swimathon fundraiser, Justine Rofe from the AWRCC Trust was present for the race and spoke to the crowd on the significance of every donation and thanked all those who participated.

Everyone from the junior swimmers to the mature entrants swam impressive times and after a huge summer of swimming was a fantastic way to finish off a fantastic Ovens and Murray racing season.
