It was fantastic to see a large contingent of Yarrawonga players competing in these tournaments. It was especially pleasing to see juniors taking the opportunity to have a hit against some different opposition.
At Numurkah Xavier Chessells continued his outstanding recent form to win the 14/U singles event. Runners up in this event was Thomas Lawrence who is also playing very well.
Billie Buerckner was runners up in the 14/U singles and Annabelle Buerckner runners up in the 12/U singles. This is reward for the amount of tennis they have been playing recently.
In the open events Yarrawonga’s current Club Champion Lucy Bassett was in great form. She won the doubles with Numurkah’s Caitlyn Price and then backed this up with a mixed title with tennis guru Mark Mills.
At Wangaratta Jack Bassett paired with Melbourne’s Sam Dineen to win the open doubles. The combination played five matches to win the title and were comprehensive winners in the final.
