The Lions, choosing to bat first at Cooma Recreation Reserve, set a modest but defendable total of 8-71 from their 20 overs at the crease.
Ruby Brentnall held the BLU innings together, scoring 22 from 30 as teammates fell around her before being forced to retire not out.
Cathy Dervish bowled well for Cooma, taking 3-10, while Sienna Brennan (2-8) picked up two wickets.
BLU was well in the game at times during the Cooma run chase, with Amy Fitzgerald striking early to remove Dervish at the top of the order.
Aside from Ruby Harman (16 not out), no Cooma batter progressed into double figures, although five of the eight who faced up made runs.
Eventually, BLU’s total proved to be marginally short, with Cooma hitting 6-75 at the 16.2 over mark.
Fitzgerald (3-16) was the pick of the BLU bowlers, while Bree Styles also snared a wicket.
Rochester had the bye in round two.
In other fixtures, Echuca defeated Nathalia by eight wickets and Shepparton Youth Club beat Katamatite by 70 runs.
Mooroopna took down Nagambie by nine wickets and Moama had a successful debut in the competition, beating Kyabram by 105 runs.
Next Sunday sees Rochester host Katamatite, while BLU will play Nathalia in Moama.
