Four of the league’s round two games were held on Saturday afternoon with premiership fancies Nagambie and Shepparton East impressing.
Both sides secured dominant round one wins and continued with their hot form on Saturday.
Last year’s grand finalist Shepparton East blitzed Tallygaroopna at Central Park Recreation Reserve.
The Eagles kept the Redlegs to one goal to halftime, while piling on 119 points themselves.
Shepparton East sharpshooter Jake Sutherland impressed on his home deck, booting a bag of 10 goals.
Ruckman Mitch Pottenger earned best-on-ground honours for the Eagles after his performance against Tallygaroopna ruck Nick Megarrity.
After losing star ruck Tom McCluskey during the off-season, Shepparton East’s Pottenger has stood up to fill the void.
The Eagles’ avalanche of attack continued in the second half as they romped to a massive 204-point victory.
The final score finished 32.22 (214) to 1.4 (10).
While Shepparton East did its work at home, Nagambie produced it on the road as the Lakers downed Longwood.
Nagambie coach Harley Taylor-Lloyd said he was happy with how his players fared during the stifling weather on Saturday.
“It was a very hot day and tested our conditioning,” Taylor-Lloyd said.
“By half-time, I think everyone would have been happy to call it off.
“It was a good outcome in the end, obviously the scoreboard was about 10 goals, but we had a couple of injuries and took our foot off the gas at the end and they probably kicked the last three or four goals of the game.”
Nagambie’s second 50-point-plus victory for the season has the Lakers sitting pretty at the top end of the ladder.
Taylor-Lloyd said the matches haven’t come against easy-beat opposition either.
“What has impressed me most is, I like to think, we have beaten two sides (Violet Town and Longwood) that would be thinking and would have recruited to be top six sides,” he said.
“We have weathered a storm at half-time in both games.
“The heat has been on, we have been challenged and we have been able to kick on after quarter time.”
In a dominant victory, Taylor-Lloyd said there were some clear stars in the red, white and black.
“Trent Laverie was best-on by far, he has been really, really good across the first two rounds and was clearly best-on,” he said.
“Blake Laverie came in for his first game of the year - Trent’s brother - and was really good across half-forward.
“The two McKinnon brothers came in for their first game and they were super, Lucas (three goals) is a centre half-forward and Blake is a half-back flanker.
“They were probably the four or five that were really impressive, but we got some games into our younger guys as well.”
Nagambie ended up winning the match, 11.6 (72) to 19.15 (129).
In other round two results, Avenel defeated Rushworth by 25 points on the road, continuing new coach Josh Delaney’s unblemished record after two games in charge.
Recruits Clayton Salmon, and Jahmal and Trayvon Stretch, were among the goals, each bagging two majors in the 14.10 (94) to 9.15 (65) victory, with the Swans now facing an early stint on the sidelines.
Avenel will have next weekend off with the league-wide break for Easter, and then the bye in round three, before returning to action with a huge clash against the Lakers on the first Sunday in May.
In the two clashes on Sunday, Violet Town bounced back from its round one defeat to demolish Undera at home 25.14 (164) to 13.11 (89), while reigning premier Murchison-Toolamba continued its winning ways against Stanhope, cruising to a 30.22 (202) to 7.5 (47) victory.
Lancaster had the bye.

On the court, Nagambie atoned for its round one defeat, while Avenel went down in a thriller.
The Lakers handed Sharni Lloyd and Sasha Berens their first win at the helm, serving up a clinincal 52-27 victory over Longwood away from home to even up their ledger at 1-1 to start the year.
Avenel are also sitting at 1-1 through two rounds, falling in the cruellest of fashion to Rushworth by one goal, going down 39-38 at Rushworth Recreation Reserve.
Elsewhere, reigning premier Girgarre continued its hot start to the year with a 63-18 thumping of Merrigum, Shepp East proved too strong for Tallygaroopna with a 59-16 triumph, Undera produced a 55-35 victory over Violet Town, and Stanhope accounted for Murchison-Toolamba by eight goals, winning 41-33.
