Shepparton East playing mentor Dwain Vidler will not be able to feature until round eight of the KDL campaign after a hearing found him guilty of striking.
The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the round-four contest between the Eagles and Dookie United, with the reported offence graded as intentional, high impact and high contact.
Vidler’s suspension carries extra weight as coach of Shepparton East, with the penalty also barring him from communicating with any football official on match day for the duration of the suspension as well as his playing prohibition.
He also cannot enter the playing area or club change rooms on match day or perform any official duties until the ban lifts.
Vidler wasn’t the only player from around the league to be issued a lengthy ban.
Following a melee in the round-six Goulburn Valley League clash between Rochester and Mooroopna, an unnamed Tiger was hit with a four-week suspension via tribunal decision for engaging in rough conduct against an opponent.
The player was reported by the Match Review Officer, with the act deemed intentional, severe impact-wise, with contact to the high/groin/chest areas.
Mooroopna’s Jed Woods was handed a one-match ban via early guilty plea for a similar, albeit less severe, charge.
A throng of Kyabram and Seymour players were reprimanded for engaging in a melee during the round-six clash at Kings Park, while more cautions were delivered to other individuals from Shepparton Swans, Echuca and Tatura.
