The centre had 23 athletes enter the KPNP Victorian Open Series titles on October 20 at Craigieburn Sports Stadium.
Each of those 23 competitors took home at least one medal, with the centre claiming 27 podiums in total.
Assistant instructor at Koryo Taekwondo Centre Jobelle Collier said the Victorian Open series titles were an incredible event for her athletes to compete in.
“There was just a great atmosphere all around,” Collier said.
“We had kids take on kids from higher belt divisions and they put up a good fight.
“They may not have taken home the gold medal, but they could hold their head up high with each one of their performances.”
Across three categories, the centre won six gold, six silver and two bronze medals in the kyorugi (fighting taekwondo), three gold and one silver in the poomsae (pre-choreographed taekwondo techniques and style demonstration) and eight gold and one silver in the para-poomsae.
Since the beginning of the year, Collier said she had noticed increased development at Koryo Taekwondo.
“I have been back (at the centre) since February-March this year, during that time we have had some growth at the centre,’’ she said.
“It is really nice to see.”
Next up for Shepparton’s taekwondo tornadoes is a flight to Brisbane for the 2024 National Championships.
Collier said the centre was thrilled its athletes were consistently competing at such high levels.
“We have nationals coming up from November 8-10,” she said.
“We have our para team going, all five of them.
“We also have a few young athletes going to compete in sparring, which is really exciting.”
