The Stars Indigenous team will play two matches against the Renegades Indigenous team on Wednesday at the CitiPower Centre in St Kilda.
The all-rounder is no stranger to representative duties, having toured Vanuatu as a member of the Australian Indigenous side in 2023, where he was named Player of the Tournament after taking 13 wickets at a paltry average of four.
King, who currently captains McKinnon Cricket Club in Melbourne’s Cricket Southern Bayside competition, has been named captain of the Stars side, while returning coach Jamie Jewiss will once again helm the side.
“It's an honour to take the reins again and I'm really looking forward to welcoming a few new faces to the side this year,” said Jewiss.
“We've formed some really good connections over the past few years since we first competed together as a team and each year we look to build on those connections and experiences.
“Cricket is such a great vehicle for these young men to learn more about culture and their identity and we're looking forward to taking on the Renegades on Wednesday.”
Also a talented footballer, King won Benalla’s goalkicking award in 2024, however will line up for Southern Football League outfit St Paul’s McKinnon in 2025.

The Melbourne Stars Indigenous team will wear the playing kit designed by Taungurung woman, Sammy Trist, which features a Southern Cross representing the Southeastern sky, leaves representing the players connected through strength, water which is representative of the Yarra River and the bay, while people represent the club as a family and players as role models for children.
King, a crafty forward on the football field during the winter months, led Benalla’s goalkicking last season in their Goulburn Valley League campaign, however he will be plying his trade in the Southern Football League this year after signing for St Paul’s McKinnon.
