Violet Town superstar forward Josh Mellington booted a staggering 27 majors in his side's whopping 212-point win over Tallygaroopna.
He becomes the first footballer in Victoria to crack 100 goals in 2021.
The former AFL talent's achievement is even more remarkable upon learning it was just his ninth appearance of the Kyabram District League campaign.
Mellington began the day on 74 goals and walked off Violet Town Recreation Reserve with 101.
With seven matches left in the home-and-away season for the Towners, Mellington's 11.2 goals a game average could see him creep close of the double ton.
The bewildering feat — one that left him trending on social media — had Mellington breaking 100 goals in a season for his fourth club in the wider Goulburn Valley region.
Mellington, 28, has raised the bat at previous clubs Echuca United, Benalla and Albury.
Violet Town coach Joel Price said it was a memorable day for everyone involved, with the club also celebrating its 125th anniversary and premiership reunions.
“It was a great day for it to happen. The atmosphere at the club was as good as it has been in my time,” Price said.
“It was huge to have past players, coaches and premiership players watching on. There was a really good feeling in the rooms. The club has a rich history and it was well celebrated.”
However, Mellington being able to reach the magical milestone looked about as good as winning the jackpot after the first term according to the Towners’ coach.
“We started really slow. Full credit to Tally they got the jump on us,” he said.
“Josh's first kick went out on the full and he only had two goals to quarter-time, so him reaching 100 wasn't even on our radar.
“But we were able to get on a roll and win the midfield battle in the second term and the way we structure up it plays into the way Josh likes to play.
“He kicked 11 in that quarter and had 13 at the main break which is when we started to think it was possible.”
Price conceded he hadn't given the possibility of Mellington notching the triple figures "any thought" leading into the weekend.
But the image of his side's power forward getting swamped by the Towners’ masses soon became a reality.
“He was able to do what he does best,” Price said.
“By the fourth quarter the boys started to look after him and fed him the ball, but it was a phenomenal effort to kick 27.3.
“I reckon about 22-24 of them would have been snaps around the body too. Last week he kicked 17.2, so he is certainly playing good footy at the moment.
“It's great that it's happened now and it's out of the way, it would have been a talking point if he was stuck on 95 or 98 as we head into some big games.”
Despite Mellington's heroics, he wasn't able to beat the feats of former Violet Town talent Craig Whelan.
Mellington ended seven short of matching Whelan's insane 34-goal haul from 2012 against Ardmona.
