Violet Town escaped with a thrilling 40-39 win over Murchison-Toolamba to jump up to fourth spot on the ladder.
The Towners, led superbly in goals by Prue Holmes and versatile Brittany Button, clawed home to salute in the narrow round five contest.
Down for the majority of the match, the home side inched ahead in the last term, only for the Grasshoppers to lay down a final attack.
The Towners withstood the late charge from the visitors to hang on by the skin of their teeth.
“It was unreal, it was so intense,” Violet Town co-coach Abbie Ellis said.
“The adrenaline was pumping, the crowd was yelling and all of our girls lifted to get over the line.
“We trailed for most of the match and were down by a goal at three-quarter time. We got in front by five goals but Murch came back and luckily we held on.”
Ellis said she was proud of the performance from her charges over the 60 minutes.
“Our girls put in a four-quarter effort for the first time this season which was really pleasing,” she said.
“I’m proud of the way they managed to fight and hold on to get the win.
“Prue led the way in goals and held her own all day. Brittany played a ripping game, she was thrown in defence and goals and did a really good job.”
Around the courts, Girgarre clinched its first win of the season.
The Kangaroos managed to pull off a stellar 49-45 triumph over Avenel.
Elsewhere, Shepparton East, Tallygaroopna and Nagambie remain undefeated.
The Eagles breezed past Lancaster 58-9, while Tally recorded a 65-21 win over Longwood.
Nagambie registered a dominant 63-17 win over Rushworth.
Lastly, Merrigum was too strong for Undera and pencilled in a 67-23 triumph.
In the final match of the round, Stanhope was at home to Dookie United.
