North Albury 6.7.43 defeated Yarrawonga 2.3.15.
Yarrawonga gave it all in their attempt to hold defence against North Albury, who came out hitting hard right off the bat.
The Pigeons boys worked well as a team to recover and clearly won the second quarter with a strong line of defence who continued to push the ball back all day.
Yarrawonga created some good passages of play and moved the ball well.
Although North Albury were the stronger team on the day, Yarrawonga are well placed to take a step forward and play competitively at their next home ground meeting.

Under 16s
North Albury 10.8.68 defeated Yarrawonga 6.4.40.
Round 3 saw the Yarrawonga Under 16 boys travel to Bunton Park to take on the North Albury Hoppers. In perfect conditions for fast footy, North Albury jumped out to an early lead scoring the first 3 goals of the match.
The Yarra boys fought back hard in the second to win the quarter by 1 point.
North Albury continued to run hard and move the ball well. To Yarra’s credit they fought hard in the 3rd quarter to only lose it by 1 goal.
In the final quarter Yarra continued to battle hard and again the North boys were only just able to win the quarter by a couple of points.
Mitch Tyson had an outstanding game with strong marking, winning rucks contests, gaining numerous possessions and he even finished his efforts off with a great running goal after chasing the ball from the ruck contest.
Ryan Cameron, Xavier Mitchell and Allen Lindrea had great games in the backline working hard to hold out the big North Albury forwards.
Sam Bigger, Sam Trembath and Archie Skehan played well in the centre and Zac Forge, Will Murphy and Lucas Tonna presented well up forward giving the Yarra boys a target.
In the end it was a solid effort by the Yarra boys to only to go down by 4 goals to one of the best teams in the comp.
