Lessons for primary aged children from 8 years upwards will be held from 9am on both days, with lessons for high school students from 10.30am.
Cost is $10 per person per day, and the up and coming golfers will be under the tutelage of professional Jody Fleming.
So any juniors who want to start learning golf, or those who want to fine-tune their game, are encouraged to participate.
On both days, individual half hour lessons will also be available from 1pm to 3.30pm, payable on the day.
There is plenty of Australia Day weekend action at Deniliquin Golf Club.
The highlight will be the Life Members’ Challenge, to be played over Saturday and Sunday, and with pleasant summer weather predicted it promises to be a fantastic event.
There is a huge prize pool of more than $4000 up for grabs, with 18 and 36 hole events across Saturday and Sunday.
Top prize for the 36 hole winner is $600, and $300 for the runner-up, plus $200 for daily winners and $100 for daily runners-up.
There will also be $100 nearest the pin prizes, and a daily ball comp.
The ‘one prize only’ per player policy will apply, which ensures the prize pool is spread across the playing field.
While entries for the Challenge have closed, anyone who wants to submit a late entry should contact the clubhouse to see if any spots in the field are free. The draw for both Saturday and Sunday is online.
No doubt the course will be busy with morning and afternoon shotgun starts on both days, however there will still be an opportunity for social players to enjoy a game over the weekend, and especially on Monday.
The driving range is also open throughout the Australia Day weekend.
On course, there was a medley stroke event last Thursday with one grade. Winner was Marg Rothwell net 66 from runner-up Linda Brant 67.
Saturday was versus par and the field was large enough to warrant four grades.
A-grade winner was Chris Mitsch +1 on countback to Troy Grant, B-grade Noel Swainger +2 from runner-up Mark Thomas +1, C-grade was a family affair won by Robert Armytage +1 on countback to Jane Armytage, and D-grade winner with the best score of the day was Toby Rae +4 from runner-up Wendy Pearce +3.

On Monday a contingent of Deni golfers travelled to Kyabram Parkland Golf Club for the first 2025 competition in the Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers Association.
At the AGM after golf, championship trophies for 2024 were presented, with Graeme Willoughby receiving the trophy for A-grade runner-up.
In the day’s fourball event Wayne Pitts claimed the trophy for nearest the pin and ball competition winners included John Penna and Garry Baker, as well as Russell Begg and Norm Purtill.
The next GV Vets event is at Euroa on Monday, February 10; players are asked to put their name on the list in the pro shop.
For any queries, talk to Graeme Willoughby.
Coming up we have 9 hole stableford on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday, 9 and 18 holes stableford on Thursday, and a stroke event for monthly medals next Saturday.
