And if you are searching for an example you need to look no further than the group of girls at Mooroopna-based Jets Gymnastics.
Following months of hard work and dedication the studio will be sending one of its largest contingents of athletes to the upcoming Victorian State Championships in Geelong beginning on October 21.
Its entire level four squad qualified for the event and will be competing as a team, while a number of individuals from its level six and seven programs will also be participating.
An incredible achievement by all involved with Jets Gymnastics, squad coach Chelsea Webb said she was incredibly proud to see her girls qualify for such a prestigious competition.
“We are very proud of the girls, they have all worked so hard throughout the year, so it is very rewarding for them to reach the Victorian championships,” Webb said.
“When the news came through that we had so many girls heading to the champs we were so stoked, it was exactly what we’d hoped for and shows that all that we’ve worked for has paid off.”
The journey to get to this point was certainly an arduous one for the girls, with preparations beginning in January.
Webb outlined the 10-month process behind qualifying for the tournament
“Our pre-season training kicked off in January and went until about June, before the competition season began in June,” she said.
“Throughout the pre-season we are all training really hard, doing our strength, our conditioning and practising all the apparatuses to get ready.
“Then once the season gets under way we have three or four competitions before our qualifying championships, which is all the way in Albury, before having to wait three to four weeks.”
Throughout the season, the girls’ enthusiasm has not wavered, as Webb and fellow squad coach Priscilla Belair expressed how impressed with how dedicated they are to their craft.
“They are very dedicated and train three to four days a week, which translates to around 14 hours,” Webb said.
“They all just absolutely love it, every session they are here with a big smile on their face, the vibe at every single training session is just fantastic.”
This dedication has translated into the club having arguably its most successful season to date, as it prepares to go back to the state championships for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is the first time we’ll be at the event since COVID-19, in previous years we did have a few girls make it,” Webb said.
“And this is a whole new group of girls heading over, which is super exciting, and comparing it to previous years it is probably one of our bigger number of girls which is great.”
As for her expectations for the state championships, Webb said she hoped all the girls had fun and put their best foot forward.
“The main thing we want to see is the girls having fun out there,” she said.
“It is such a great opportunity these girls have to compete in the state championships, so we just hope they appreciate that and do the best they possibly can.”
