It was a huge night of presentations, beginning with junior presentations with the two under-13s sides and the under-15s awards.
The two under-13s sides had hugely successful seasons, with many talented junior cricketers and many important volunteers and administrators recognised.
The night also had the backdrop of the final round of the Deni Rhinos under-12s Friday night competition on the Memorial Park number three pitch.
The final match saw Team Cummins play Team Gilchrist, with Team Gilchrist winning the grand final.
The most significant part of the senior presentation was the surprise recognition for Tim Hillier becoming the second-ever life member of the Rhinos, joining the inaugural life member Brad Todd, with several family members and friends in attendance.
“Tim has been the backbone of the club ever since the Rhinos inception 12 years ago,” club spokesperson Anthony Bradley said.
“He has been president from day one, a club captain, premiership player, coach, canteen coordinator, head curator, he has done everything and is an all-round good bloke.”
It was another successful season completed and well-deserved award winners, with best and fairest winners recognised for outstanding seasons.
Winning the A-grade best and fairest following the vote count was Brodie Bennett with 24 votes from 14 matches.
After rejoining the Rhinos this season, Brodie Bennett was consistently dominant with both bat and ball.
Runner-up in the best and fairest vote count was Griegan French with 21 votes after a great season with the bat.
Both French and Bennett were recognised with medals for the hundreds they scored in the season.
Matt Taylor won the A-grade bowling award, finishing with the most wickets in the league, 37 at an average of 14.68, while Boddie Arthur won the A-grade fielding award for most catches.
In C-grade, Hamish Baker, one of the Rhinos young guns, had an amazing season to claim the best and fairest.
Baker also won the C-grade batting award and finished second in the bowling award, showing he will definitely be pushing for more time in A-grade next year.
Cooper King won the C-grade bowling award, while Stephen Marshall won the C-grade fielding award after the most catches over the season.
Charlie McCallum won the C-grade coach’s award after a brilliant season, another young player pushing for higher honours, while Rowan Frazer received the A-grade coach’s award for training efforts since August despite finishing the season with C-grade.
There was also one other senior off-field award with John Arthur awarded club person of the year for his weekly training and match contributions over the season.
He lead the Deni Rhinos as A-grade coach, and was also honoured for his involvement around the club and with the under-12 junior cricket competitions.
