Benalla P-12 College kicked the roadshow off in February with the Grade 1/2s learning how to dribble the ball with ‘What’s The Time, Mr Hockey?’ Then they ‘Robbed The Nest’ of eggs from Hockey eagles Jacinta, Erin, Serenity, Steele and William.
The 5/6’s played ‘Hoctopus’ against coaches Sophie and Erin, then scored heaps of goals in ‘Number Hockey’.
The whole of Broken Creek Primary School joined in, with many remembering ‘Hockey Ready!’ from last year.
The grade 3/4’s and 5/6’s at St Joseph’s Primary got to zoom their balls around in the air conditioning which was a saviour from the 38*C outside, with Serenity, Finn, Annie, Emma and Josie being skilful ‘Hoctopi’ and creating some great plays in ‘Number Hockey’.
“It’s so great having the Benalla Hockey Club junior coaches bring hockey to their own schools – the kids all love it,” said Hockey Victoria coach Lee Manning.
The final session of Benalla’s Hook In2 Hockey is running on Thursday, March. 27 at Churchill Reserve, Waller St. All equipment is available, with no experience necessary.
