Such was the nature of Cricket Shepparton's A-grade decider at Deakin Reserve, with the Cats and Waaia snaring ascendancy multiple times across the clash.
But in the end it was Lowe and his troops who reigned supreme by one wicket.
“What a mad game of cricket. I thought we had done our chances after not knuckling down early,” Lowe said.
“But it was just a massive effort from the boys and it was a funny way to end it with a couple of bloopers from Waaia late and things just seemed to go our way.
“It was a pretty exciting game, you wouldn't think 19 wickets would fall for 200 runs between two quality sides.”
One of the veterans of the squad, Lowe was excited to see some of his younger teammates climb to the top of the Cricket Shepparton mountain after a stellar summer.
“For me it's more about that next generation of players really,” he said.
“The guys who hadn't played in one before. There was a moment there where I thought we let it slip and I kind of felt for them, but luckily we got over the line.
“It was just one of those years where we had a lot of blokes, guys like Jac (Smith-Williams), Brady (Mulcahy) and Brodie (McDonald) that could step up at different times.”
And as for his coaching role this season, Lowe was quick to highlight the armchair ride he received from skipper Sam O'Brien and assistant coach Luke Zanchetta.
“Sammy has put in a lot of work, he's been massive over the past couple of years,” Lowe said.
“Ringing up blokes and organising everything, I'm really happy for him.
“Luke has been fantastic, he has made us a better team. He's been taking training and if I say I coached this team this year then I'm kidding myself.”
