Despite bowling Old Students out last round — a feat achieved just once by the Bloods this season — the side fell under Connor Hangan’s spell as the Students’ spearhead sent seven Karramomus bats packing to see it fall 70 runs short of the mark.
Now Karramomus readies for the biggest test of them all; Central Park-St Brendan’s.
The Haisman Shield leader has reached juggernaut status, and the Bloods would be foolish to expect anything other than a ravenous Tigers composite on Saturday.
Batting-wise, Central Park has been truly devastating in its first five outings.
Rhiley Lau blasted 120 striking at 146 against Numurkah last week while Brendan Scott made 70, and with Tyler Larkin second on the individual scoring list it’s no shock the Tigers lead the pack when it comes to runs made.
Though remarkably, Central Park also tops the ‘runs against’ category.
It’s a statistic which suggests the Tigers’ bowling is a chink in the armour Mitch McGrath’s charges should look to exploit; however, that is precisely the facet Karramomus has struggled with.
In stark contrast to their opposition, the Bloods have accumulated 423 runs — a cool 552 short of Central Park.
While the Karramomus trio of Zane Newbound, Angus Heslin and Lachie Keady all feature in the Haisman’s top 20 bowlers this season, only Zac Groombridge appears in the competition’s 50 most prolific bats.
The formula for success on Saturday is as clear as day; someone needs to step up with the willow for the Bloods — and majorly, at that.
