After being challenged early on in the contest, the Demons flexed their muscles to run out 52-33 winners at Princess Park.
Reigning Wellman medallist Jessie Barnes lit up the court with dead-eye shooting and gun recruit Zoe Davies was calm and collected in defence.
The result keeps United locked in equal top spot on the Goulburn Valley League A-grade ladder.
“We toughed it out. I was really happy with the result,” United coach Tania Orchard said.
“We knew it was going to be a tough slog.
“They really took it up against us in that first term.
“I thought the way we reacted under pressure was really pleasing.
“Yeah we made mistakes, and it wasn't by any means a perfect game from us, but we still have room for improvement.”
The first quarter was captivating to watch, with both sides pinballing the ball around the court in quick fashion.
Swans - through fierce intensity - were able to gain the upper hand over their opponent.
Led by talented shooter Sophie Atkinson and attacking option Chelsea McDonald, the Swans edged out to a three-goal lead late in the opening term.
However, in the blink of an eye, United was able to turn it around and entered the first break with an 11-8 lead.
Swans kept within reach in the second term, but some errors allowed the visitors to edge further ahead at the main break.
Trailing 25-19 at the start of the third, Swans opted for some fresh legs and new combinations.
It proved futile as the 2019 grand finalists, boasting a superior fitness levels, ran away with the contest to win by 19 goals.
Orchard was full of praise for the performance of her star attacking and defensive leaders, Barnes and Davies.
“I thought Jessie was outstanding, along with Zoe as well,” she said.
“Kara (Dawes) and Liv (Hall), our centre rotation, both did well with their connections and feeding the goalies with great passes.”
Young rising star Sophie Garner, fresh off her selection for the state 17-and-under squad, made her A-grade debut late in the final term.
It was a special moment for the junior talent as she lined up against her older sister Hannah.
“That was her first run in A-grade netball and it was a good opportunity to give her a taste of it,” Orchard said.
