Echuca will have two netball sides in action in Goulburn Valley League grand finals this weekend, with the Murray Bombers’ under-17s booking their spot in the decider alongside the under-15s with a win on Sunday.
Taking on Shepparton Bears at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton, Echuca claimed an exciting 38-36 win to earn a place in the grand final against Mooroopna.
Sunday’s triumph was the Murray Bombers’ first win over the Bears this year, with Shepparton topping Echuca in their two previous encounters during the home-and-away season as well as in the qualifying final earlier this month.
Echuca has beaten its grand final opponents Mooroopna twice already this season, including a two-goal win in the final round of the regular season.
Echuca’s under-15s will also be in action on grand final day, having already punched their ticket to the decider with a semi-final win over Shepparton.
The Murray Bombers will take on Shepparton Swans after their 43-24 win over the Bears in Sunday’s preliminary final.
Meanwhile in the B-reserves, Echuca’s season came to a close after a three-goal defeat to Mansfield.
The Murray Bombers had topped the Eagles 55-31 back in round four, but this time it was Mansfield who got the job done, advancing to the grand final against Seymour after defeating Echuca 45-42.
