Greater Shepparton City Council has opened applications for its Our Sporting Future Grant Program, aimed at providing support to development projects and programs that encourage participation and engagement in sport across the region.
Local sporting organisations are urged to apply for a slice of the funding, which is available across four categories.
Grants under the sports aid and junior and youth participation arms are capped at $5000, while women’s and girls’ grants are worth up to $10,000.
Meanwhile, a minor category pays up to $13,000, matching dollar for dollar with an in-kind component available.
This grant program is designed to assist community sport organisations with small to medium-sized facility development projects and to foster growth in emerging sports throughout the region.
GSSC Mayor Shane Sali touched on the benefits of Our Sporting Future Grant Program, encouraging local clubs to apply to help give their facilities a facelift while promoting sport in the region.
“Investing in grassroots sport strengthens our communities, encourages participation, and enhances the sporting experience for players, volunteers, and spectators alike,” he said.
“I encourage all eligible clubs to apply and take advantage of this funding to help build a stronger and more inclusive sporting future for our region.”
Those wishing to apply for the Our Sporting Future Grant Program are encouraged applicants to contact GSSC’s sporting clubs officer (program co-ordinator) to discuss proposed activities and eligibility requirements before submitting an application.
Organisations/groups can only receive funding in one category per round, with applications closing at 5pm on Monday, March 31.
