A Murray Bushrangers quartet will put its fast twitch fibres and muscle sinews to the absolute test when hitting up the 2024 AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne from October 4-6.
Shepparton Swans’ Oliver Warburton, Shepparton twin sensations Jack and Matt Whitlock, as well as Benalla product Joe Berry, were named alongside 61 of the country’s best draft-age candidates to attend the event.
Testing will again include the vertical jump, running vertical jump, 20m sprint, agility test and 2km time trial.
The national draft provides some of the best young footballers from across the country a chance to impress recruiters.
Warburton has had a solid season for the Bushrangers in his top-age year, averaging 23.8 disposals and 3.3 inside 50s in his four games for the Murray outfit.
The young Swan also featured four times for Victoria Country in the AFL Under-18 National Championships, while also recently making his VFL debut for Collingwood.
Meanwhile, the Whitlock brothers have been glinting on the radars of AFL recruiters for some time.
The twin talls have morphed into key position players for the Bushies in 2024, with 200cm full-forward Jack averaging 15 touches and kicking 15 goals, while 199cm utility Matt has 19 majors to his name, averaging 14.3 disposals.
Pocket rocket small forward Berry is arguably the most highly-touted of the four, kicking three goals in Victoria Country’s agonising one-point defeat to Victoria Metro in the national championships final.
All will hope to wow recruiters with their fundamentals and athleticism at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and the MCG in October.
