The Big V basketball division one side will be looking to continue its winning ways when it comes up against a tricky Bulleen outfit away from home on Saturday night.
Coming off two fantastic double-header results last week, another win would ensure the Gators stay at the top end of the table.
Assistant coach Troy Lundberg will be in charge once again this weekend alongside Wally Armstrong, with coach Josh Waight away at the under-14s state championships.
Lundberg said Bulleen matched up pretty well with Shepparton and identified opposition import Malik Price-Martin as a player set to cause problems.
“He (Price-Martin) is huge so we have a little bit of work to do on him to try and contain him for the game,” Lundberg said.
“We’ll just play him straight up and look to get some help from our teammates.
“That job is going to fall to big Matt Andronicos, he’s an experienced campaigner when it comes to guarding other big guys so we’ll work with him and try and find a way to combat him.”
Andronicos is coming off two quality performances last week, with the tall a massive presence inside the paint and cleaning up on the rebounds.
With the league having a weekend off next week due to Easter, Lundberg said this Saturday’s clash was crucial for the side continuing its momentum.
“We’d love to go into this weekend four (wins) and one (loss) and not three and two but we understand it’s going to be very difficult,” Lundberg said.
“It’s always difficult when you’re playing away, with the crowd against you and that sort of thing, plus the travel and all those factors that come into it but it’s super important.
“This would really help get our season on track and under way where we want it.”
The Gators will travel to the East Doncaster Secondary College on Saturday to take on Bulleen at 8pm.
