In the opening game, the 17th-seeded side lost to sixth seed Japan 15-21, with Garrick scoring four points in the loss.
Garrick backed up that performance with six points in a tight win (15-12) over Ukraine, which was seeded 10th.
The Aussies turned it on in their third match, winning 22-5 against 19th-ranked Thailand.
Garrick put up seven points and three rebounds in the win.
The Aussies caused a huge upset in the final pool match, knocking off the tournament's second seed, Iran, 22-2.
Garrick had five points and two rebounds to help the Aussies make the quarter-final.
The Shepparton product scored a solitary point in the quarter-final loss.
USA, France and Olympic host Japan booked their ticket to the Games and will join China, Russia, Romania and Mongolia, who had already qualified based on the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking on November 1, 2019.
In the men's draw, Poland, Netherlands and Latvia will join Serbia, Russia, China and Japan at the Tokyo Games.
The last spot in the women's and men's competitions at Tokyo will be decided at the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hungary, which will be held on June 4-6.
