The Allan Matheson Shield top dog is barking loud and proud at the ladder’s summit, etching its sixth win on the spin during Saturday’s division one weekend pennant action.
The Redlegs welcomed Kyabram to town, hosting a Bombers side looking to make a statement and crack into the finals bracket after three consecutive losses.
But Tallygaroopna delivered what most expected.
The reigning premier was a class above in the pressure cooker of competition, displaying cool heads in sweltering conditions on home greens.
The Redlegs eventually came away with a 16-83 to 2-64 victory, winning three out of four rinks as Guy Madigan’s quartet licked the stamp with a 27-14 result over Mal Williams’ four.
Tallygaroopna is now 15 points clear of Shepparton Golf, while the loss condemns Kyabram to sixth as a must-win fixture against Tatura-Hill Top looms.
The Bulldogs shifted into fourth after taking a triumph over Euroa, sending the visitor back down the road with a 16-86 to 2-72 loss to stew over.
Brendan Boyd’s four produced a masterstroke in the second rink, securing a 15-shot advantage against Tony Kingma and co.
Meanwhile, Shepparton Golf stopped East Shepparton’s slick run of form in its tracks, reminding the competition that, while it still trails Tallygaroopna, Golf is still one of the league powerhouses.
The Golfers emerged with a 16-89 to 2-61 victory to remain second on the table, another 15 points above Shepparton Park in third.
And, after scoring its first win of the season the week prior, Mooroopna came back down to earth as Park took the spoils in a thumping manner, winning 18-90 to 0-58.
