Shepparton South has dropped further behind its Goulburn Valley-based rivals in Central Victorian League women’s action following a challenging 4-8 defeat to Spring Gully United on Saturday.

Following the round six defeat at McEwen Reserve in Shepparton South has slumped to sixth on the table, pushing it two wins behind Tatura and Shepparton United, who recorded wins at the weekend.
South was on the back foot after conceding in the 15th minute, however, Rosemarene Legalo tied things up with the first goal of her classy hat-trick just after the half-hour mark.
It wasn’t a dour afternoon on Sunday for South’s rival Shepparton United.
The depleted United outfit pencilled in its third win of the campaign following a comfortable 4-1 triumph at McEwen Reserve.
Olivia Saron, who found the back of the net twice inside the opening 10 minutes, pencilled in a hat-trick in what was a memorable performance.
United coach Jean-Claude Giuca was proud of his side’s effort in controlling the contest for the full 90 minutes.
“It was a good team performance, we had a few absentees and a few injuries, so it was nice to come away with the win,” he said.
“It’s been a topsy-turvy start to the season for us just with players missing and things like that.
“I thought we really controlled the game right from the get-go and maintained a lock on it until the end.
“Olivia is a trooper and she’s the heart and soul of our attack. The mids did the work to feed her the ball and the backs were fantastic ... all in all it was a good team performance.”
