News photographer Rechelle Zammit was out at the Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex on Saturday to capture action from the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association.

Shepparton Youth Club Scorchers took on Echuca Moama in round two of the women’s B-grade competition.

It was the opening game of the season for the Scorchers following a first-round bye, but they couldn’t quite start the season off with a win.

Tayah Irwin and Donna Turner were best for SYC, with the Scorchers set to take on old rivals Shepparton Strikers this Saturday afternoon.

The Strikers will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss of their own after falling to Euroa by a goal at the weekend.

It was the Strikers’ first defeat of the season following a 5-3 triumph in round one over the River Rats.

The Strikers and Scorchers fared better in the B-grade men’s competition as they emerged victorious in their respective fixtures.

The Strikers toppled Mooroopna 3-1, while the Scorchers defeated Echuca Moama 2-1.
