Birdies were holed out, cold and crisp beers enjoyed and record money was raised as another successful Rotary Club of Shepparton Central charity golf day entered the books.

The annual Rotary Charity Golf Day at Shepparton Golf Club was held on Friday, February 28.
Passionate golfers, keen supporters of the GV Health Foundation and workers from across the region eager for a day out of the office hit the fairways early on the final day of summer.
Golf carts wheeled around the course like ants over a mound as participants hacked, hoiked and hooked balls on fairways, in the rough or magically onto the green.
Plus 1 Group Accounting's team went home the victor of the tournament as Rotary Club of Shepparton Central golf day co-chairman (alongside Phil Squire) Rob Kelly said the event was a success.
“It was fantastic,” Kelly said.
“It has been pretty much (that busy) for the last few years now.
“There was 32 teams, which was about 128 players.”
The money raised from the day went to supporting the GV Health Foundation’s Post Graduate Educational Scholarships program.
A total of $40,000 was raised through auctions, donations, raffles and more as the Rotary Club of Shepparton Central smashed the previous record set in 2024.
Kelly said it was great to see the record be broken year after year.
“Last year was $35,000,” he said.
“This year (the $40,000) would secure seven educational scholarships (for GV Health).”
Former Collingwood football star and coach Tony Shaw was the guest speaker after lunch and had the room in raptures as he told stories from the golden era of football.
Kelly thanked the day’s major sponsors the Hot and Cold Shop, Quicklift Forklift Hire and efex for supporting the event.
The charity day's co-chairman reflected on the impact the event has had since its inception.
“It has been going now since 1990, so 35 years,” he said.
“In that time it has raised well over $1 million.
“A special thanks to all the other Rotarian volunteers on the day.”
