Another big win has seen the Cobram Roar continue its bright start to the season, taking home all three points after a victory on Sunday.

The Roar’s Albury Wodonga Football Association division one men’s side was dominant in its game against St Pats, putting five unanswered goals past the visiting side.

Anthony Corso continued his run of good form, scoring two goals, while captain Marcus Williams opened his account for the season with a brace and Jack Dovey found his second in as many weeks.
Roar coach Vince Iannucci said he was happy with the performance, with more of a focus on the way the side played rather than the scoreboard.
“People were pleased with the way we played the game, I’ve heard a number of comments that it was a good watch,” Iannucci said.

“I was really happy with the way we controlled the game.”
The Roar used the ball well throughout the contest, with the side controlling possession and playing a passing game.
Iannucci said the players had sat down and planned some plays that had shown the side how they wanted to move the ball, with quite a number paying off on Sunday.

It was also positive to see Roar duo, Spiro Vourgaslis and Bill Puckett, coming off the bench, with Vourgaslis’ substitute appearance his first of the season.

The Roar is also set to add another new signing to a team bursting with talent, and one only likely to get stronger as the season continues.
“That’s a bit of a luxury for us,” Iannucci said.
“We’ve had so many quality players walk in and say ‘I’m just working in the area’ and they can all play.”
The Roar is pencilled in for an away day at Aloysius Park, Albury at 3pm on Sunday against the Albury Hotspurs. However, they will be without Justin Smith who went down with a knee injury in the division two game.
Iannucci said the side was looking forward to a good contest.
“I don’t care if the score is 1-0, I don’t care if the score is 15-0, I just want us to play the right way and at the moment we are,” he said.
“We might play well all game and get done, but I just want to maintain that we play the way that we play, because that will benefit us all in the end.”

Cobram Roar 3 def St Pat’s 2
The division two men’s team showed great depth in the squad this week, with the boys making a huge effort to secure the win against St Pat’s.
From a solid back line to a quick midfield, the side had lots of chances at goal.
Justin Smith scored two goals before his knee collapsed under the pressure of scoring his hat-trick and Nazz Corso played a great game up forward before dropping into the centre to bring back control of the game after St Pat’s scored a quick two goals.
The game was over when Zain Ailbraheem pulled out an amazing shot, curling the ball away from the keeper into the top corner.
The win will give the boys a great boost before heading into next week’s match against Albury Hotspurs.
Under-13
Cobram Roar 1 lt St Pat’s 7
The under-13s played a tough match against St Pat’s.
Although they went down 7-1, they performed much better in the second half, applying more pressure in defence and making strong passes to set up attacking passages of play.
There were some great reactions and pressure from Will Young, Ella Janssens and Lukas Stewart.
With some effective set-up, Lenny Power was able to capitalise and score, while Alexis Iddles and Alex Hawk both did well in the goalkeeper shirt.
