NCWL sides Echuca, Tatura and newcomer Nagambie took part in the one-day round-robin tournament, competing against Central Victoria Football League outfits North Bendigo and Castlemaine.
News photographer Megan Fisher was at Tatura to capture the action.
It was Castlemaine that claimed back-to-back atWork Australia Cups after defeating Echuca 4.1 (25) to 2.0 (12) in the grand final.
The Magpies are the reigning CVFL premiers and went a perfect 5-0 during the pre-season tournament before winning the competition for the second time in as many years.
The Murray Bombers had three wins and two defeats at Tatura Park, with both losses coming against Castlemaine.
Echuca finished as the minor premier last season, going a perfect 9-0 during the home and away season.
But the bottle greens came undone in the grand final, losing to Nathalia in the decider for the second straight season.
The Purples had the edge on a rainy grand final day in July, defeating Echuca 3.8 (26) to 2.5 (17).
Nagambie will be competing in the NCWL for the first time this season and it got its first win on the board against Tatura at the pre-season competition.
The Lakers triumphed 3.0 (18) to 1.0 (6), earning their sole win of the day.
Nagambie was defeated by North Bendigo, Echuca and Castlemaine.
Tatura battled hard throughout the day, but finished at the foot of the five-team ladder after not winning a game.
The NCWL season will kick off this weekend on Sunday, April 2.
Echuca will host Shepparton United at Victoria Park, while Tatura will welcome Nathalia to Tatura Park, with both games starting at 2.30pm.
Nagambie will wait an extra week to start its season with a bye in round one.
