Competition still teeters on the precipice of starting, but Goulburn Valley Playing Area’s top guns are out greasing the arm for the season.

With Edna Harling Shield midweek play and Allan Matheson Shield weekend pennant kicking off on October 15 and 19 respectively, some of the regions stalwarts took to East Shepparton Bowls Club on Sunday for the Goulburn Valley State Fours.

There were plenty of club colours and pride on show.

Representatives from Shepparton Park, Mooroopna, Tatura-Hill Top, Tallygaroopna, Kyabram and Shepparton Golf took to the greens in the men’s and women’s fours.

All will return this Sunday for finals action as the season of bowls begins with a bang.
