Valley Sport’s ninth edition of the Harmony Cup was held on March 19 at Deakin Reserve.
Balls were whacked and caught at the all-abilities cricket carnival.
Valley Sport project officer Heath Wharton said the carnival was once again well attended.
“It was a great day,” Wharton said.
“We had teams from Cobram, Echuca, some local teams as well.
“Eight teams (all up) and so that would have brought about 120 participants.
“Thanks to Shepparton Youth Club United Cricket Club, Cricket Victoria and all the participants and coaches and support workers on the day.”
The ninth edition of the carnival is in the books and Valley Sport’s eyes are now focusing on celebrations for the 10th year of the event in 2026.
Wharton said he hoped to keep the tournament growing year-on-year.
“We are discussing with Cricket Victoria and (Shepparton Youth Club United Cricket Club) about what next year might look like,” he said.
“Definitely keen to keep expanding.”
The next all-abilities sporting carnival organised by Valley Sport will be the Mooroopna All-Abilities Football Netball Carnival, which is expected to be held for its 11th edition on the first Wednesday of September this year.
Wharton said events such as these were “extremely important”.
“It is a big calendar event for some of the schools and service providers, they look very much forward to it,” he said.
“It gives them an opportunity and the participants love it.”
