Round two of the Goulburn Valley League’s under-18 competition was held at the weekend.
Kyabram travelled to take on Tatura, with the Bombers eager to keep their form going after a 129-point round one win, while the Bulldogs were keen to bounce back after their heavy opening defeat.
Searing conditions led to the two sides feeling hot under the collar at times, with physicality in the match on display.
The Bombers rocketed out of the hangar with six goals straight in the opening quarter to open up an 8-36 gap at the first break.
As the match continued the margin grew steadily with each quarter that passed.
In red and black, the Carver name ran riot as Lachlan, Riley, and Oscar featured in the Bombers’ best.
Kyabram eventually ran away a 103-point winner, with the score finishing 2.2 (14) to 17.15 (117).
In other round two matches, Shepparton continued its stellar start to the season thanks to a 137-point victory over Benalla.
A Bears forward made for frosty opposition as Ned Frostick booted four goals.
Frostick leads the competition for goal-kickers with seven after two matches.
Mooroopna overcame inaccuracy in front of the big sticks to defeat Rochester 6.12 (48) to 5.9 (39) at home.
Cats vice-captain Will Emanuelli kicked four goals.
Shepparton United secured a comfortable 42-point victory over Mansfield at Deakin Reserve.
The Demons had a few familiar club names on their roster with the likes of Zane Chalcraft, Nate Yze and Archer Hueston doing damage.
Last year's grand finalists Shepparton Swans defeated Seymour by 38 points at Kings Park.
The Swans’ key to victory came in the second term when the visitors blew the Lions away with a 6-31 effort.
Reigning premier Echuca defeated Euroa by 73 points away from home.
Shepparton and Kyabram make up first and second place on the ladder, respectively.
Meanwhile, Echuca and Mooroopna are the other two clubs who remain undefeated heading into Easter weekend's round three.
