Even with finals off the cards for these two Allan Matheson Shield clubs, the two teams fought like junkyard dogs in their final game of the year.

Heading into division one’s round 14, the final edition of the home-and-away season, Mooroopna and Euroa had little to play for as the two clubs sat in the bottom three on the ladder.
However, pride in one’s self and club can drive those competitive juices to a maximum and that’s exactly what happened at Mooroopna Bowls Club on Saturday.
The falsely-characterised dead rubber contest between the two sides got off to a one-sided start as Euroa blew the hosts out of the water with a 10-26 first rink victory.
Slowly recovering from those first round body blows, Mooroopna remained firmly on the back foot after the second rink as well, with Euroa claiming another victory 15-16.
Mooroopna skipper Joshua Warren inspired his troops to the club’s first win of the day as the hosts overcame Euroa in a thrilling 19-18 third rink contest.
Requiring a 17-shot win to produce an unlikely comeback, Mooroopna fell agonisingly short in the fourth.
The hosts dismantled Euroa 23-7 to win by 16 shots in a gallant final effort for the season.
Ending the match as a draw, the final score finished 9-67 apiece.
In other division one round 14 matches, Tallygaroopna celebrated its top-spot finish with a dominant 18-100 to 0-61 victory over East Shepparton.
Kyabram claimed a nail-biting win over Tatura-Hill Top away from home.
The match decided who would finish in the last remaining finals spot and the contest went down to the wire.
In the do-or-die match, the visitors claimed the win in the end, 3-79 to 15-81.
Second-placed Shepparton Golf trounced Shepparton Park 18-87 to 0-58 on its home deck.
Division one semi-finals will be held on Saturday, February 22, with Shepparton Park hosting Kyabram in an elimination final and Shepparton Golf travelling to Tallygaroopna in a bid to book the first spot in the grand final.
