Motor sports enthusiasts from across the country took to the track at Winton Motor Raceway last weekend for the 45th Historic Winton event.

Forty-eight car, motorcycle and sidecar events were held across two days with Historic Winton being the first historic race meet to combine all three race formats 46 years ago.

Austin 7 Club president Len Kerwood, who has been involved with organising Historic Winton since its inception 45 years ago, said the event was unique in that it offered something for all motor sports enthusiasts.

“It first started as a racing meet for a few guys, it’s now become a big celebration in all things motoring and it offers something different for everyone,” Kerwood said.

The Sunday Parade lap was a particular highlight at the weekend and featured anniversary vehicles including 100 Years of Austin 7 and spectator-owned showcase vehicles that attracted the attention of many.

Kerwood said the Sunday Parade was easily one of the most eye-catching events of the weekend.

“The parade lap is on the bucket list of many motoring and motorbike enthusiasts as it’s a rare chance to drive or ride the famous Winton Motor Raceway circuit,” he said.
