A Cobram resident, Gade cited the travel commitments required to get to Kyabram as the reason for his departure.
“It came down to travel and work in the end,” Gade said.
“Having to work across Cobram and Wangaratta, at one point last season it was taking me an hour and 40 or an hour and 50 minutes to get to practice.
“It just wasn't practical in the end. The club was very understanding, they're a great bunch of people and I hope they find a new coach and do well.”
Gade will line up with Cobram in the Murray Playing Area this summer — and the Tigers are set to benefit greatly from the signing.
“It's a two-minute drive from work and a four-minute drive from home, so it will be much easier to practice,” Gade said.
“I'll get back to just playing and having fun with it.”
Although now no longer in the Goulburn Valley Playing Area himself, Gade will still be keeping a keen eye on his Bombers.
“I'm hoping Kyabram can do really well,” he said.
“Dad (Darryl) will still be playing there.”
● The inaugural Goulburn Murray Bowls Region board was elected recently.
With the region now split into two playing areas, directors were needed to fill the Goulburn Valley and Murray seats on the board.
Alexandra's Ann Argent, Avenel's Grace Kenworthy and Seymour VRI's Stephen McGregor are the Goulburn Valley Playing Area directors, with Numurkah's Alan Rogers, Numurkah Golf's Joe Luci, Barooga's Archie Ellis and Cobram's Marjorie McDonald set to serve as Murray Playing Area directors.
Rogers was appointed chairman and McGregor secretary following the board elections.
Two director seats remain vacant, with seven nominations received for nine positions.
