Fletcher lost the final 25-16 to Moama star Kevin Anderson, having faced off against Deniliquin RSL’s Miro Peterman in round one with a commanding 25-5 result.
Peterman played as a lead in the weekend’s division three round where his team missed this year’s finals.
Fletcher then won his semi-final with Stephen O’Brien 25-19 to earn a shot at pre-event favourite Anderson.
Earlier in the tournament O’Brien had beaten highly decorated Echuca bowler Philip Thorn.
Anderson, a former Scottish international, faced Rich River champion Eugene Xodo in the first round of the eight-man field and won that contest 25-14. He then beat Pavone in the semi-final 25-11 to set up the match with Fletcher.
Tongala’s Matt Liverton had Steve Pavone in the opening round of the event at Echuca on Sunday.
Liverton, who usually plays third to Bulls teammate Steve Hammond, lost the match with the Lockington division three skip 18-25.
The Tongala pennant star has filled in as a skip on several occasions in the top division this season.
Pavone is the 14th ranked player in the competion overall, but his run ended in the semi finals when he was beaten by Moama star Kevin Anderson 25-11.
Ben Fletcher dominated the early rounds of the Champion of Champions event before losing to Moama’s Kevin Anderson in the final.
– Moama club champion, and Kyabram teenager, Olivia Cartwirght is on track to add the title of Campaspe Playing Area Champion of Champions to her ever increasing resume.
She had an opening round bye in the singles event before facing Rochester’s Jenny Major in the quarter finals. She won that game 25-15 before facing Tongala’s Sally Beach in the semi-finals.
She beat Beach 25-16 and will play Deniliquin’s Joanne Bovell in the final.
Beach won her opening round match with Ann Willaims 25-23 and followed that up with a quarter final victory against Bev Trengove (25-21).
Beach and Cartwright are former teammates at the Kyabram Bowling Club in the Goulburn Valley Playing Area. The other semi-final was between Leanne McInnes and Joanne Bovell.
Bovell won that match 25-19, having beaten Echuca champion Michelle Cunnington 25-19 in the quarter final.
