In round five, Finley defeated Tocumwal 4-1.
Sel Corcoran and Brett Shaw lost 3-2 to John Wilson and Noddy Ireland.
Peter Wood and Simon Fuller won 5-3 against Ron Huy and Ed Brown.
M Daniel and Roger Sutton won 3-2 against Davin Wilson and Phil Cheesewright.
Col McNamara and J Braybon were 1 up against John Crilly and Neville Finn.
Ian Swain and Rob Singleton went 1 up against Phil Howe and Shane Halloran.
Deniliquin came a draw with second place on the ladder Cobram 2, with 2.5 apiece.
Jarod Sommerfeld and Ron Turner came out square against Alan Lowndes and George McLaughlin.
Peter Astill and Geoff Bessell went down 2-1 to Rob Koers and Greg Boyer.
Digger Ring and Col Thompson went 2-1 up against Alan Haddrell and Kohen Haddrill.
Troy Grant and John Wacheke lost 3-2 to Matt Haddrill and Codi Bowen.
Matt Thomas and Sam Callinan won 2-1 against Steve Carr and Robert Ryan.
Third placed Cobram 1 were too strong for Corowa winning 4-1.

Tuesday, January 10, provided very warm conditions and the ladies played stroke for the monthly medal on the captain’s course.

Wednesday, January 11 saw a large field of men play stableford in very hot conditions and some high scores were recorded.

The Wednesday stableford medley event was again well supported.
Priuljith Cu got out early and with 38 stableford points set a claim on the day which held out and gave him the day’s trophy.
NTPs: 13th Norm Pyle, 18th Barry Wilson.
Ball competition winners down the line were Rick Shaw 34, with Rand Wilson, Stuart Lewis, Norm Pyle, and Rob Daniel who all came in with 31 points.
Stableford was played on the back nine at the Nine Hole Competition on Thursday.
Rodger Sutton came home with 19 points as the day’s winner, with Karen Litchfield on 16 a winner of the ball competition.
Most players took an early start option to beat the heat when stableford medley WAS played on Saturday.
Doug Smith, the in form player of the moment, racked up another win with 39 stableford points after countback.
NTPs: 13th Kevin McCumstie, 18th Doug Smith.
Ball competition winners: Rob Singleton 39, Ian Litchfield 38, Karen Litchfield 36 and Chick Braybon who had 35 Stableford Points.
With most of the regulars playing in the Mid Murray Pennant and another hot day, and the field lightened off when stableford medley was played again on Sunday.
Rick Shaw came home a winner with 39 points.

Southern Riverina Veterans
The Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association’s January competition day was played at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club on Monday, with 113 golfers taking part.
The stableford was played and home town Yarrawonga player, John Hillis, took the A-grade trophy on 41 points.
Ron Huy from Tocumwal, on 40 points, was runner-up.
Stephen Boyer from Yarrawonga got 40 points to claim B-grade, with Colin Rangitonga from Tocumwal runner-up with 39 on countback.
Leslie Garbutt from Yarrawonga had 38 points to take C-grade from fellow Yarrawonga player Ian Smithwick, also on 38 points, after countback.
A-grade NTP went to Molly Ryan (Cobram); B-grade to Gary Baldwin (Cobram); C- grade went to John Hodges (Cobram); All Grades was claimed by Pat Ryan (Yarrawonga).
Ball competition winners were players with 30 Points or better.
