The scintillating form of Rochester’s bowlers was on display as the Rochy attack rolled through BLU’s batting order after the Lions were sent in at Windridge Oval.
Usual suspects Bree Styles (11) and Amy Fitzgerald (11) were the only batters to reach double figures for BLU, but even they weren’t able to go on with the job as the Lions were dismissed for just 55 runs in under 15 overs.
Cadence Major took wickets for fun, grabbing 4-5 in 2.5 overs, while Hayley Broucek also boasted a formidable strike rate, taking 3-8.
Taya Munro, Trinity Hayler and Harriet East rounded out the wicket-takers.
The pitch played some tricks in the Rochy chase but openers Broucek and Munro were measured in their batting.
Both retired not out after reaching the ball limit, Broucek on 17 and Munro on nine.
There was a slight bump in the road as two wickets fell in quick succession but Rochester was most of the way home, Sadie Martin finishing the chase with a quick six not out.
Daneika Hucker and Ruby Brentnall (both 1-15) were the two wicket-takers for BLU.
With a round to go, Rochester’s post-season hopes are over, needing to overturn an impossibly large quotient differential even if Moama and Shepparton Youth Club United were both to lose, allowing Rochy to draw level on points.
