Two rounds into the Campaspe Playing Area midweek competition, and only Echuca has picked up two wins thus far.

Visiting Rich River Bowls Club, the Echuca bowlers scored a comfortable win on the competition table, but had to work hard to earn points in three tight rinks 15-59 to 1-50.
The biggest win of the tie went the way of skip Kerryn Evans, whose side, consisting of Di Payne (lead), Michelle Cunnington (second) and Philip Thorn (third), successfully got by Gary Radford’s quartet 22-15.
In the other rinks, Roma Opie earned two more points for Echuca 18-16, while Echuca skip Ian Page and counterpart from Rich River Brian Trengove couldn’t be separated, finishing 19-all.
Mathoura battled Stanhope at Mathoura Bowling Club, the visitor taking the tie 12-67 to 4-57 despite taking only one rink.
Skip Peter Myers got the job done for Stanny, his squad’s big 30-15 win doing enough to earn overall points for his side, even with Mathoura skips Troy Mansbridge and Peter Pangrazio both earning wins for Mathoura.
In the remaining match-up, Moama got past Rochester 14-61 to 2-56.
Robyn Thomassen skipped her Steamers side to a strong win, 26-14 over Rochy skip Brian Kinnane.
Marilyn Stephenson earned points for Moama in a closer contest, getting up 24-21.
Skip Rob Dennis scored the lone rink win for Rochester, taking it 21-11.
Deniliquin had the bye in Division one.
Division Two
Echuca brought up a century against Rochester, demolishing the visitor 16-101 to 0-24 at Echuca Bowls Club.
All three rinks pulled their weight in the massive win with Echuca skips Pam Lewis, Malcolm Thorn and Trevor Nagorcka all scoring at least 32 shots.
Moama defeated Rich River 14-65 to 2-40.
Kevin Connolly had an impact on the final margin for Moama, skipping his side to a 32-6 win in his rink, while the Steamers Denise Pappin scored rink points by a single shot against rival skip Leon Sharp.
Heather Freeman regained some points for Rich River, taking her rink 17-15.
Deniliquin RSL was dominant against Ky Valley View, taking all three rinks 16-96 to 0-28.
Linda Harris and Craig Taylor both skipped Deni to big wins, 37-5 and 35-11, while Tony Tonta’s 22-1 victory earned Deniliquin maximum points.
Division Three
It was a tight round in Division Three, with 11 shots the biggest overall margin of victory.
That came between Moama and Elmore, with the Steamers taking the match 12-40 to 2-19.
A drawn rink led to Lockington’s 13-40 to 1-35 victory over Deniliquin RSL, while Tongala Red got up by five shots 12-36 to 2-31, over Echuca.
Division Four
Things were even closer in Division Four, with two matches decided by a single shot.
Rich River’s victory over Stanhope, 12-43 to 2-42, and Lockington’s win over Rochester, 12-42 to 2-41, were each scored by the narrowest margin.
Tongala Red had a slightly more comfortable win over Echuca, taking the tie 12-50 to 2-45.
