Div 5 stands up for Deni Bowling Club

The Deniliquin Bowling Club Weekend Pennant teams were all chances on Saturday, but it was only Division 5 which managed a victory.

Division 1 went to Stanhope only to suffer a 53 shots to 63 defeat.

Simon Chisholm’s rink came agonisingly close but going down 19 shots to 20, while Peter Chadderton’s crew was never in the hunt when losing nine shots to 30.

Steve O’Brien led his side of Carly Crothers, Dallas Kitchin and Jamie Shields to a very solid 25-13 victory, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the overall 10 shot loss.

Division 2 went down by three shots to Stanhope, despite winning on two of the three rinks.

Rob Morris’ side won 18-15, and Glenn Thomson’s combination including Terry Boyer, Stephen King and Paul Snare fell over the line to win 20 shots to 19.

Unfortunately David Hessel’s team were beaten by seven shots to determine the three shot victory to the Stanhope visitors.

Division 3 didn’t have far to travel when they ventured across the road to Deni RSL, but didn’t bring back the spoils after succumbing, 55 shots to 61.

Lee Pattinson’s side lost 16-22 after leading for most of their match, while Tom Todd led his harem to a hard-fought 17-15 victory.

Bryan Kemnitz’s rink was well down with three ends to play, but snared a five to draw level and back in the game.

They dropped a shot on each of the final two ends however to go under by those two shots.

Division 5 was the only win for the club when they claimed a 58-33 victory against Elmore.

Noel Murray, John Murray, Mike Donohue and Lloyd Ritchie set the scene with their 40 shots to nine win, including a six on the 18th end, before Col Knuckey’s mob went down 18-24.

Weekend pennant teams for tomorrow are as follows:

Division 1, away to Moama, with seconds on car duty: G Nisbet, C Hillier, S Treble, S Chisholm (s); T Taylor, J Flisher, S Laing, P Chadderton (s); C Crothers, D Kitchin, J Shields, S O’Brien (s).

Division 2, hosting Moama: J Grimshaw, C Murray, C Taylor, D Hessel (s); P Todd, A Holloway, B Kemnitz, R Morris (s); T Boyer, S King, P Snare, G Thomson (s).

Division 3, away to Rochester, seconds on cars: T Danckert, I McKenzie, K Salter, M Law (s); K Hay, W Pattinson, M Donohue, L Pattinson (s); R Little, H Anderson, M Atley, T Todd (s).

Division 5, at home to Rochester: N Murray, J Murray, R Douglas, L Ritchie (s); A Hardcastle, T Hillier, T King, C Knuckey (s)
