The Deniliquin RSL Bowling Club had to defeat Moama on Saturday to win a berth to the final game of the season, and did so comfortably.
They will now go head-to-head with the Deniliquin Bowling Club, who won their way into the grand final in the semi finals a week earlier.
The grand final will be played at Lockington.
DBC’s Division 2 side will also play in the grand final this Saturday after a win against Echuca, in Echuca, on Saturday.
They will go on to play the Moama Steamers in the bog dance.
Playing at Echuca, the Division 5 RSL Diggers won 43-30, with victories on both rinks.
After a less than auspicious start to the season, after forfeiting the first three rounds, the Diggers have shown steady improvement and consolidation to put themselves in a position for a shot at the title.
In Saturday’s games, Gary Hulm (s), Wayne Bradley, Peter Thommers and Graeme Gordon were tied at 13-all after 14 ends, but finished confidently.
They out scored the opposition 11-1 over the remaining seven ends to win 24/14.
Lindsay Dalzell (s), John Hulm, Archie Webster and Jo Chick led throughout in a tight contest.
Moama challenged late with a four on the penultimate end to draw within 2 shots, leaving RSL leading 18/16.
A single on the final end saw the Diggers home with a well deserved victory, 19-16.
In the Division 2 preliminary final, DBC finished with 59 shots and 14 points, to Echuca’s 58 shots and two points.
The DBC rink skipped by Brian Kemnitz won comfortably, 18 shots to 12.
It was far more harrowing a day for Rob Morris and his side, who narrowly defeated Echuca 25-24.
The final DBC team, skipped by Craig Hiller, had a 16-22 loss but based on the results from the other teams, the Deni club walked away with the win.
