It was a Davidson top four in the Jets’ batting order for the first time, with Glen and his son Jake getting things under way, before Shane and his son Zavier took the game to the Bloods’ bowlers.
The two combined for a father-son partnership like no other, putting 150 runs on the board in superb fashion.
Shane would finish on a supreme 123 runs, including 13 boundaries and 10 maximums, and was supported by Zavier, who compiled a classy half-century.
Despite the two boys putting on a show with a wide selection of shots, Shane said luck was on their side more than a few times on the day.
“You get a bit lucky when you have scores like those, the boundary was small and a pretty fast outfield, everything was in our favour,” he said.
“It was good fun and, the Karra boys, it was good to play against them, good bunch of blokes.”
With Shane and Glen busy coaching their two boys in the under-14A competition, Davidson said it was one of the rare moments the four had had to play together.
“It was a great opportunity for my brother and our two boys to play a game together, we hadn’t done it before — to actually a play a game — we’ve fielded in the same game, but to actually play and be able to bat together was the opportunity, and probably the last opportunity.”
After making runs for Karramomus and Northerners A-grade sides in the late ’90s and early 2000s, Shane said although his best playing years might be behind him, he’d been happy to step in for a game wherever needed.
“The boys (Zavier and Jake) are up playing B-grade on a Saturday and I’ve only filled in just to have a bit of a hit with them, it’s been a fair while for me,” he said.
“I filled in once on a Saturday for one game early and made a first ball duck, so just filled in for the T20s ... and still recovering!”
